Etched Metal Journal (Outside)
For this class we worked with nickel silver which is 3.25" by 5". The designs used in the example were made using Autumn Leaves rub-on lettering (front cover) and Art Warehouse rub-ons for the back cover. Many other scrapbooking and adhesive vinyl lettering works well, as does glass stenciling stickers.
The Autumn Leaves lettering worked so well as a resist for the etching solution (ferrous chloride) that we really had to scrub hard to get the lettering off.
Note that the class required a kit, which contained metal covers, book pages, and waxed linen thread. All of these materials and more are provided when you sign up for the class.
Etched Metal Book (Inside)
The inside pages are decorated using walnut ink crystals, other aniline dyes and tools (like a chopstick or skewer) and texture blocks.
The pages are bound using a variation of the spring action binding and are tied at the fore-edge with waxed linen thread.
Mini Assemblage Samples
These are samples of what you can create in the Mini Assemblage in Resin class.
Tiny collage materials and trinkets are put to good use. One process uses heat so make sure your materials can withstand heat.
Bottle caps and old watch cases make good containers.
We like the bottle caps with corks so you can imbed watch parts in the cork to keep it from "floating" in the resin.
